Food sovereignty
Give neighbors a direct way to share harvests, trade seeds, and coordinate what's grown locally — without a corporate platform sitting between the grower and the table.
Off-Grid Community Mesh
Food sovereignty and a resilient neighborhood that keeps talking, trading, and looking out for each other — even with no internet, no cell service, and no servers.
Why TrueRoots
The tools we rely on to feed and organize our communities all assume one thing: a working connection to the internet. When the grid goes down, the towers go quiet, or you simply live where coverage doesn't reach, those tools disappear. TrueRoots is built the other way around — it works first, and connects opportunistically.
Give neighbors a direct way to share harvests, trade seeds, and coordinate what's grown locally — without a corporate platform sitting between the grower and the table.
Coordinate work, requests, and resources across the people around you. Every phone is a node, so the network grows stronger with each neighbor who joins.
Storms, outages, and dead zones don't stop the mesh. Radios relay messages peer-to-peer, so your community stays reachable when centralized infrastructure fails.
No accounts on a central server, no data broker in the loop. Communications stay on your local mesh, and direct messages are end-to-end encrypted between devices.
How it works
TrueRoots runs over Meshtastic, an open long-range radio protocol built on inexpensive LoRa radios. Instead of routing your messages through the internet or a phone company, each radio simply passes messages along to the next one in range — like a bucket brigade for data. No SIM card, no monthly bill, no company that can switch it off.
Connect an affordable Meshtastic radio to your Android or iOS phone over Bluetooth (BLE) — or USB on Android. The radio is the antenna; the app is the interface.
Every node forwards messages for its neighbors, hop by hop. A message can travel far beyond any single radio's range by riding across the mesh.
If a recipient is out of range, your message is held in an offline queue and auto-retries when they reappear — with delivery receipts so you know it landed.
Add a solar repeater or more neighbors, and the network gets more reliable and reaches farther — owned and maintained entirely by the community.
No internet · No cell towers · No central servers — the network is the radios in your community.
Everything on the mesh
Every feature is designed to work fully offline first, then sync opportunistically when nodes come into range.
Text your community over Meshtastic LoRa with no internet, cell service, or servers involved.
End-to-end encrypted direct messages with a store-and-forward queue that auto-retries, plus delivery receipts: queued, sent, delivered, or failed.
Reach every nearby node at once for announcements, coordination, and community-wide conversation.
Post local food and seed listings, message a seller directly over the mesh, broadcast a listing to nearby nodes, and let listings sync between neighbors — all offline.
Cache map tiles for use with no signal, share and import maps, and see mesh nodes placed on the map around you.
Send an urgent alert across the mesh that repeats for reachable nodes — a lifeline when every other network is down.
Catalog and preserve the seeds your community saves, and share entries across the mesh to keep varieties alive locally.
Use TrueRoots in English, Spanish (Español), or French (Français), with instant in-app language switching.
No central accounts and no cloud dependency. Your community's conversations and data stay on the local mesh.

Food sovereignty & community
TrueRoots isn't a social network — it's infrastructure for the people already around you. The goal is simple: make it easier for a community to feed itself and stay connected on its own terms.
